How do you calculate buffer harmonizer (reverse solver)?

Target pH and stocks in, an exact volume-closed recipe out. The relationship used is split by 10^(pH − pKa), then V = n / C_stock.

  • Target pH: 7.4
  • Buffer concentration (M): 0.05
  • Final volume (mL): 1000
  • Acid stock (M): 1
  • Base stock (M): 1

Formula: split by 10^(pH − pKa), then V = n / C_stock

The working

  1. Ratio: [A⁻]/[HA] = 10^(pH − pKa) = 0.219
  2. Buffering moles: C · V = 50 mmol
  3. Split: base / acid = 8.975 / 41.025 mmol
